Privacy policy
6days has no accounts. Your prayers, recordings and notes are kept on your phone, not on a server. The app sends words off your phone in one case only: when you ask it to find passages.
What stays on your phone
- Prayers, the answers to them, transcripts, translations, bookmarks and notes, in a database encrypted with a key kept in the iOS Keychain.
- Recordings of spoken prayers and voice notes, each encrypted on the phone. Recordings are never sent anywhere.
- Settings such as your language and your place in the Bible.
Speech is turned into text by the speech recognizer on your phone, and transcripts are translated by Apple's translation feature on your phone. The first time you use a language for translation, iOS may download it from Apple.
If your phone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, that encrypted backup is handled by you and Apple under their terms.
What is sent when you ask for passages
When you tap Find Scripture, the app sends the text in the box and the language you use. That text may be typed, dictated, or a Journal transcript you chose to send. The app asks for your agreement, naming OpenAI, before the first request.
- The text goes through our server, a Cloudflare Worker, which reads it in memory to pass it on and does not store it or write it to logs.
- It is then sent to OpenAI, an AI company, to choose passages, write a short reflection, and check whether the message suggests someone may be in danger. We ask OpenAI not to store it as a saved response, and OpenAI does not use it to train its models. OpenAI's own policies apply, including any limited retention it applies to detect abuse.
- Your name, email, church and recordings are never sent. We do not collect them.
What our server stores
To make sure requests come from the genuine app, and to control costs, the server keeps:
- A device key made by Apple's App Attest for your install of the app: a key id, a public key and a counter. It is not linked to your name or Apple ID.
- How many requests that key made each day, kept for 30 days to apply daily limits and for monitoring.
- Service-wide totals, not tied to any person: daily request counts, and monthly spending kept for 12 months.
- Monitoring counts of the address requested and the response status, with no key, IP address or content.
Cloudflare sees your IP address when your phone connects, and uses it for a short-term rate limit on our behalf. We do not store it. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to how it runs its network.
Gifts
Optional gifts are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details or Apple ID. To know when to ask, the app keeps a count of answers on your phone and, on iOS 18 or later, reads your past gifts from StoreKit on the phone. None of this is sent to our server. Apple gives us sales reports under its own terms.
This website
This site uses no cookies, analytics, ads or third-party scripts. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes technical request data, such as IP addresses, in order to deliver it and protect it from attacks.
No tracking, no selling
6days does not track you across other apps or websites, show ads, or sell or share your information for advertising.
Your choices
- Delete a prayer, recording, bookmark or note in the app at any time.
- Delete everything from Settings. This erases your prayers, recordings, notes and the keys protecting them from the phone.
- You can use the Bible, notes and Journal without ever asking for passages, in which case no words are sent.
- The device key on our server is not linked to your identity, so we cannot look it up by name. Contact us with any privacy question or request, including those you may have under the laws where you live.
Children
6days is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date. If the app's use of your words changes, the app will ask you again.
